Rugged DC/DC Converters Are Introduced By Advanced Energy

Railway Advanced Energy Converters
The recently released 100 W and 150 W quarter br
ick modules abide by several industry requirements and provide rail system builders a dependable, high-efficiency option.
Two robust DC/DC converters have been introduced by Advanced Energy Industries, a leader in the design and production of highly engineered, precise power conversion, measurement, and control solutions for mission-critical applications and processes. These converters are designed for demanding railway and other mass transportation applications. The ERM100 and ERM150 series provide compact quarter-brick, completely enclosed 100 W and 150 W alternatives with up to 91.5% efficiency to the company’s ArtesynTM product portfolio.

The ERM100 and ERM150 meet the difficult electrical and physical working conditions in railway applications with enhanced insulation and strong EMC immunity. The converters are UL94 V-0 rated for vibration and thermal shock, and only UL94 V-0 rated flame retardant materials are used in their packaging. Thermal management is made easier with a baseplate designed for contact cooling, and a heatsink version is also available for designs requiring more exacting heat control.
Both converters work with a set switching frequency, provide a single, continuous output of power, and have an input voltage range of 36 to 160 Vdc that complies with European Railway Standard EN50155.
The ERM100 and ERM150 feature minimal ripple and noise characteristics and don’t have a minimum load requirement. The temperature range for operation is -40 °C to +85 °C.
The RoHS-6 compatible modules’ exceptional dependability is further enhanced by their adherence to the EN50155 and IEC60671 safety requirements. There is a three-year warranty on the converters.
