NIGERIA Authorities Disrupt Gay

A significant crackdown has been made by Hibah Board agents in Kano state, northwest Nigeria. 19 people were detained as a result of the Hisbah Board agents’ efforts to prevent a gay marriage in the state. Abba and Mujahid, two alleged gay couples, are currently believed to be at large.
Kano, Japan No less than 19 people were detained by the Kano state Hisbah Board for allegedly attending a lesbian wedding. According to Daily Nigerian, Lawan Ibrahim, a spokesman for Hisbah, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, December 20.

The 19 people detained for attending the alleged homosexual wedding of Abba and Mujahid were youths, according to Ibrahim, who claimed that their attendance at the ceremony was what led to their detention. Muhammad said:
“Our personnel attached to Hisbah board headquarters, Sharada Kano, arrived at the spot before the start of the ceremony. The arrest was made when a Good Samaritan intimated to the board about same-sex marriage.
According to a report by PM News, the Hisbah spokeswoman said that of the 19 people who were allegedly present at the gay marriage who were detained, 15 were women and 4 were men.
While this was going on, it was said that the alleged gay couple (Abba and Mujahid) fled for cover when the Hisbah agents arrived. Muhammad said:”Abba and Mujahid left right away.” Hisbah representatives arrived at the wedding site, but we have Salma Usman, the organizer, in prison. The majority of the females said they were invited to the wedding from neighboring states, thus those detained would be given to the police for further action, he said. “We will step up our efforts to make sure Abba and Mujahid are detained.”
