Scholarship for Holland-High Potential Students at Maastricht University 2023



Scholarship Information: Each academic year, Maastricht University (UMHolland-High )’s Potential Scholarship program awards 24 full scholarships totaling €30,000 (including tuition fee waivers and monthly stipends) to exceptionally talented students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been admitted to UM’s master’s programs.
The scholarship program consists of the Holland Scholarship, which is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science in collaboration with Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences, and the High Potential Scholarship, which is funded by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund. International students from outside the EU/EEA who want to pursue a full degree program in the Netherlands are the target audience.
Degree Level: One year of a master’s study takes 13 months.

Living expenses: €12,350 (for 13 months) or €23,750 (for one year) (25 months)
700 Euros for health and liability insurance
€ 207 is the cost of the visa application fee.

Highly gifted students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been accepted into a master’s degree at UM are eligible nationalities.

Who is qualified?
The following requirements must be met by all applicants:
You meet the requirements for getting an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands and have nationality from a nation outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam.
You do not possess dual citizenship with an EU/EEA countries.
For the academic year 2023–2024, you have applied for admission to Maastricht University’s participating full-time master’s program.
You are eligible for admission to the particular UM master’s program to which you have applied.
You have never taken part in a higher education program in the Netherlands that leads to a degree. The application process is open to students who have participated in exchange programs in the Netherlands.
On September 1, 2023, you will not be older than 35.
Your most recent grade transcript or proof of academic brilliance show that you had exceptional results in your previous educational endeavors. UM will give precedence to applicants whose academic records or certified letters of academic excellence show that they are in the top 5% of 2023–2024 scholarship program applicants if many applicants are equally qualified.
Please be aware that just 2% of candidates will receive this very competitive scholarship.

Application Methodology:
Step 1: Enroll in a master’s program at UM that is one of the participants.
Please visit the website for your desired program for more information on how to register for a master’s program there. After submitting your application through Studielink, you will be given a University of Michigan student ID number. To fill out and submit the scholarship application form, you must have a student number (see Step 2 below).
Please take note that the UM Holland-High Potential Scholarship is only available for the master’s programs listed above.
Please be aware that in order to apply for the scholarship, you must first apply for the master’s program at UM. Once you have your student ID, you can apply for the award. However, in order to receive a scholarship, you must have your application for admission to your master’s program conditionally approved.
Please be aware that the UM International Services Desk does not reimburse handling fees if your study program needs them as part of the admissions process. By 1 February 2023, you are responsible for paying any handling fees that your program may impose. Please check your program’s webpage under the ‘Admission requirements’ menu tab to see whether there are any handling fee requirements.
